Field Trip – October 19 🗓 🗺

The Ranch North Woods/William Kirsch Preserve, West Little Rock

Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the gravel parking lot at the Preserve.  We’ll work on identifying the multiple sparrow species that winter there.

The Nature Conservancy has kept the 234 acres in its natural state, and the tall grassy fields are great for sparrows.  The dirt trails are level and weave through the grassy and wooded areas, and along the Little Maumelle River.

It borders Pinnacle Mountain State Park and has views of Pinnacle Mountain.  We may see some waterfowl as we walk along the river.  The wooded areas are great for woodpeckers.  Wear sturdy walking shoes.

Directions: Address is 8803 Ranch Blvd. off Hwy. 10 in west Little Rock.  Drive to end of Ranch Blvd.  The gravel parking lot is where it dead ends at the preserve.  GPS: 34.8135579, -92.4573036
