Audubon Society of Central Arkansas Minutes
Fletcher Library, Little Rock, AR
April 12, 2018, 7:00 p.m.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Cindy Franklin. Sixteen people were present.
The March Minutes were approved after a motion by Dottie Boyles and second by DeLynn Hearn.
Cindy went over the March treasurer’s report which showed income of $113.52, and expenses of $3,003.62. The net deficit through March is $2,890.10.
Cindy announced upcoming field trips and meetings as follows: (1) Craighead Forest Park and Crowley’s Ridge Nature Center April 21, (2) Ark. Audubon Society Spring Convention April 27-29 and (3) Gillam Park and Audubon Center on May 12 for World Migratory Bird Day and the BirdLR Birdathon.
Dan presented the program on “Ornithology Through Philately” which was well received with a number of questions.
Following the program and a short break at 8:10 Cindy brought up an upcoming hearing at the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission re the commercial harvesting of aquatic turtles. Dan announced a candidate forum at Audubon Arkansas April 25. Cindy offered a reminder of the native plant sale at Audubon Arkansas April 21. And Barry Haas gave brief updates on Central Arkansas Water, which is in the process of acquiring ~468 acres of land north of Lake Maumelle in the watershed, and the Water Providers Legislative Task Force.
The meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
