Audubon Society of Central Arkansas Minutes

March 8, 2018, 7:00 p.m.

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Vice-president Dan Scheiman.  Dan presided while Cindy went home to retrieve her laptop computer with cables for speaker Blake Sasse’s use.  Seventeen people were present.

The February Minutes were approved following a motion by DeLynn Hearn and second by Susan Hardin.

Jim Dixon presented the February treasurer’s report which showed income of $139.33, and no expenses.  Net income through February is $1,289.06.

Karen Holliday announced upcoming field trips to (1) Delta Rivers Nature Center and area on March 24, (2) Craighead Forest Park and Crowley’s Ridge Nature Center on April 21 and (3) Gillam Park and Audubon Center on May 12 for World Migratory Bird Day and the BirdLR Birdathon.

Dan announced there are 7 BirdLR Birdathon teams so far.  He also announced Audubon Arkansas’s Native Plant Market will be held on April 21.  Following a discussion of ASCA’s annual donation to Audubon Arkansas DeLynn moved and Karen seconded that the chapter pledge $4.50/species for ASCA’s BirdLR Birdathon team.  The motion was approved.

Dan said he would present the April program on “Ornithology Through Philately”, and there would be no May program.

Cindy returned, and set up her computer for the evening program.  Dan introduced Blake Sasse of AGFC who presented an interesting program on “Arkansas Bats” including White-nose Syndrome.

Following the program Cindy announced she had heard back from only one rehabber, Denise Williamson of Russellville.  DeLynn made a motion to send Williamson $200 toward her rehabbing expenses, and John Webb seconded. The motion passed.

The meeting adjourned at 8:32 p.m.
