13 birders joined me Sunday evening (2/16) at Pinnacle Mountain State Park to look and listen for American Woodcocks. As expected they (the woodcocks not the birders) started sounding off at about 6:15 (20 minutes after sunset) and went on for about 20 minutes. We were not inundated in woodcocks but the consensus was there were at least three, two doing the display song and another going “zeet”. One was seen by about half the group when he flew into the open.
I intend to do more if there is interest, maybe this Friday (2/21) depending on the weather. Let me know if you are interested.
